The Knight In Rusty Armor

This monster I have become...
These scars on my hands...
These rough hands once smooth... I vowed I would never let them hurt you.
The moon, so bright and fragile...
Almost seems like it stays away from us for one reason...
That reason, to never feel the blade slitting across it's crust...
It reminds me of you.
I told you I will be your guardian, Your knight in shining armor...
But my armor has worn out.
The moon no longer shines across the chest piece...
The stars no longer fall for me and you.
This dark reflection of myself... Not able to wipe away the rust.
These once smooth hands, Now rough with scars...
Now soaked with blood...
I vowed they would never hurt you,
But now look at me, I am just another knot of rust in your past...
The night withers on, The sun slowly rises up... Blinding the moon.
The sun is just another bully to the moon,
making the moon hide away into the darkness...
Just so it can get it's spotlight...
The sun only reveals the rust on my armor...
as the moon makes me feel safe and perfect.
Perhaps this is just another tall tale...
of the brave knight and the princess.
I just wish I could've been that knight.
A light of hope slowly rises...
I vow with these worn out hands...
I will once again be your moon...
lighting your way when things get dark.
